Senior Settlement Manager (Digital Assets)

Prime Partners
Tirane2 September 2026Deadline: 25 September 2026

About the job

Role Summary

Crypto markets never close, settlement is irreversible, and there is no chargeback. The Senior Settlement Manager owns the accurate, timely, and fully controlled settlement of client obligations across fiat and digital assets - every deposit, withdrawal, trade settlement, OTC leg, staking distribution, and institutional funding movement.

This is a high-trust, high-consequence role. You are accountable for movements of client and corporate assets measured in millions annually, where a single mis-keyed address, wrong network, or missed approval is permanent. We are looking for someone with an unusual combination of operational precision, control discipline, and composure under pressure a person who treats a 100% settlement accuracy rate as the baseline expectation rather than an achievement.

You will lead the settlement function day to day, own its control framework, and be the escalation point of last resort before the Deputy CFO.

Duties

Key Responsibilities

Client Settlement Execution

  • Own end-to-end settlement of client obligations: crypto withdrawals and deposits, fiat payouts, stablecoin transfers, OTC trade settlement, block trade legs, and institutional funding/defunding.
  • Ensure every settlement is executed against the correct asset, network/chain, memo/tag, and destination address, within published SLAs and cut-off times.
  • Manage multi-chain settlement across [BTC, ETH, L2s, Solana, Tron, etc.], including network selection, gas/fee management, nonce and mempool issues, chain congestion, and reorg handling.
  • Operate settlement within strict dual control / four-eyes and maker-checker frameworks; act as senior approver within delegated authority limits and escalate above threshold.
  • Manage high-value and VIP/institutional settlements personally, including callback verification and out-of-band confirmation procedures.

Reconciliation & Asset Integrity

  • Own daily reconciliation of on-chain balances, exchange internal ledgers, custodian statements, and bank accounts  with zero tolerance for unexplained or aged breaks.
  • Guarantee continuous segregation of client assets from corporate assets, and maintain the operational evidence supporting 1:1 client asset backing and proof-of-reserves attestations.
  • Investigate and resolve settlement exceptions: stuck or pending transactions, underpayments/overpayments, wrong-network deposits, dust, failed transactions, unrecoverable sends, and lost memo cases.
  • Maintain the break log, root-cause analysis, and remediation tracker; report aging and trends to Finance leadership weekly.

Wallet & Liquidity Operations

  • Coordinate hot/warm/cold wallet funding and rebalancing to ensure sufficient settlement liquidity without breaching hot wallet exposure limits.
  • Execute signing operations in line with key management policy (MPC / multi-sig / HSM), including participation in quorum ceremonies and break-glass procedures.
  • Forecast daily and intraday settlement liquidity requirements across assets, chains, and fiat rails; flag shortfalls to Treasury ahead of time.
  • Manage relationships and operational escalation with custodians, banking partners, PSPs, market makers, and liquidity providers.

Controls, Risk & Compliance

  • Own the settlement control framework: address whitelisting, withdrawal limits, velocity checks, approval matrices, segregation of duties, and audit trail completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with Travel Rule, sanctions screening, and pre-transaction blockchain analytics screening (e.g., Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM) before release of funds; hold and escalate flagged settlements.
  • Serve as first-line control owner for settlement processes; support internal audit, external audit, and regulatory examinations with evidence and walkthroughs.
  • Maintain and annually re-test settlement runbooks, business continuity, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Ensure no single individual  including yourself  can move client assets unilaterally.

Incident Management

  • Act as senior incident lead for settlement events: delayed withdrawals, banking rail outages, custodian downtime, depeg events, chain halts, forks, and suspected erroneous or fraudulent settlements.
  • Drive the freeze / recall / recovery decision path in coordination with Compliance, Risk, Legal, Security, and Client Support.
  • Own post-incident reviews and the resulting control changes.

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Lead, roster, train, and develop the settlement team across a 24/7 coverage model; own shift handover quality and escalation clarity.
  • Drive automation and straight-through processing: reduce manual touchpoints, build automated reconciliation, and partner with Engineering and Product on settlement tooling and payout infrastructure.
  • Partner with Client Support and Institutional Coverage on settlement communications, SLA reporting, and client-facing root-cause explanations.
  • Define, publish, and defend settlement KPIs to Finance leadership and the Board where required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years in settlement, payment operations, treasury operations, custody operations, or middle/back-office operations in financial services, with at least 1 year leading a team.
  • Direct hands-on crypto settlement experience is essential  exchange, custodian, OTC desk, market maker, prime broker, or digital asset payments provider.
  • Deep practical understanding of on-chain mechanics: addresses, memos/tags, confirmations, network fees, multiple chains and token standards, and the operational consequences of getting any of them wrong.
  • Proven ownership of high-volume reconciliation across internal ledgers, on-chain data, custodians, and banking rails.
  • Working knowledge of fiat rails: SWIFT, SEPA/SEPA Instant, Fedwire/ACH, Faster Payments, [local rails], plus PSP and stablecoin on/off-ramp flows.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within dual-control, segregation-of-duties, and audited control environments.
  • Strong incident management track record  evidence of having handled a real settlement crisis well.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with sound escalation judgement: knows what to fix, what to stop, and what to wake the CFO for.

This role isn't for someone who wants to run a process — it's for someone who wants to own it. If that's you, apply below.
